What it does
The European Parliament Multimedia Centre provides photographs, video, infographics and audiovisual archives. Its collections distinguish news footage, social-media videos, photosets and illustrative stockshots.
News Footage contains unedited coverage with original sound, including debates and event summaries. Photosets gather views from one debate or event in several resolutions. Illustrative Footage provides stockshots and infoclips, while Social media videos are prepared for posting as supplied.
Reuse conditions distinguish finished programmes from other footage. Edited videos and infographics must be shown whole; other video may be edited for EU information and education under the stated terms. Use the credit attached to the individual file. Third-party material is excluded unless permission is expressly given, and music, depicted artwork or buildings may involve additional rights.
Strengths
- Photosets keep multiple views of one event together.
- Published conditions distinguish finished videos from editable footage.
Watch out for
- Edited videos and infographics must be shown in full.
- Third-party rights and music can require additional clearance.
Best for
- Editors and educators illustrating European Parliament activity
