What it does
MyBB is free forum software with themes, plugins and moderation tools. Administrators can combine repeated moderation actions or schedule them for later. The download needs no provider registration; running the forum requires hosting and a local administrator account.
A recurring decision can become a custom moderator tool: combine actions, limit it to relevant forums and use it on individual threads or bulk selections. Delayed moderation can run a thread action after a chosen number of days, useful for closing time-limited announcements.
For inline moderation, select posts or threads, choose the tool and click Go. The Moderator Control Panel also collects approvals, reports and action histories. Warning types can assign points and expiry periods, with thresholds that restrict posting or trigger a ban.
Download the package and upload the contents of its Upload folder to your hosting. The installer collects database details and creates a local administrator account with a username, password and email. Remove or lock the installer when finished; MyBB will not run while it remains open.
The software carries no charge, forced adverts or provider signup. Its LGPLv3 licence permits ongoing self-hosted use; hosting and maintenance are your responsibility.
