What it does

Nansen organizes blockchain addresses into labeled wallets, token-holder views and capital-flow research. Its platform combines analytics with separate trading and staking functions. You can create a free account or subscribe to Pro; its developer tools use API credits and offer a small continuing free allowance.

A large transfer becomes more useful to investigate when you can also see the wallet's holdings, counterparties and earlier transactions. Nansen's Profiler data brings those views together, while its token tools compare holder groups and capital flows. Labels are Nansen's classifications, so use the underlying activity to understand what a wallet actually did.

Free access and developer costs

Nansen offers Free and Pro accounts. Its API page lists Pro at $49 per month with 2,000 starting API credits. Free API access starts with 100 trial credits and a daily ten-credit refill. Additional API credits cost $10 per 10,000, with costs differing by endpoint. These are data-request credits, not a quote for transaction fees or AI chat allowances.

For API-key access, log in, open the API section and generate a key. A research integration can use the data permission alone. Separate trading and account permissions control transaction functions and changes such as alerts.

Set a daily or monthly credit cap for each key if you want to limit its consumption. Those caps reset on UTC calendar boundaries; reaching a cap blocks further charged requests for that key until capacity is available. The account's subscription and credit balance still apply.

Changing plans

Open Account Settings and choose Change Plan to select a subscription. Nansen warns that remaining time on the previous plan does not automatically carry over after a plan change. Its help currently lists only Free and Pro, with no Enterprise tier.

Strengths

  • Wallet research can include counterparties, related addresses, token balances and trading history.
  • Separate API permissions and per-key credit caps help limit a research integration to its intended use.

Watch out for

  • Endpoint access depends on the account plan as well as available credits.
  • Unused time on an existing plan does not automatically transfer when changing subscriptions.

Best for

  • Researchers following labeled wallet and token-holder activity
  • Developers adding address profiles or capital-flow data to their own tools
