What it does

Navidrome streams a music collection through its web player and compatible third-party apps.

Install Navidrome and FFmpeg on the server or choose a separately managed hosting route. Configure the music folder with read access and its data folder with write access, then open the server’s browser address and create the first admin. Albums appear as the background scan reads your tagged files.

Choose an album and play a track in the web interface, or connect a compatible client through the OpenSubsonic API. Separate libraries can have user-specific access. Storage, remote connectivity and transcoding are part of the owner’s server setup.

Strengths

  • Integrated web player
  • Separate libraries and user access

Best for

  • Listeners hosting their own music collection
