What it does

National Bank of Canada's digital banking handles account activity, bills and transfers, with specimen-cheque downloads for sharing payment details. Customers can hide accounts from the overview and set balance-related email alerts. Everyday chequing packages are paid, with free Connected banking for people under 25.

Download account details for a deposit

To get a void cheque in the browser, sign in, select the account and choose Download a void cheque. In the app, select the account, then More → Void cheque. This supplies account details for arrangements such as payroll deposits.

You can hide accounts from the overview without closing them. Temporary card blocking and cancellation are also available. The virtual assistant answers general questions but cannot perform transactions or handle account-specific requests.

Set your balance alerts

National Bank automatically emails when a chequing or savings balance falls below C$100, unless you change the threshold or turn alerts off. Credit alerts use the remaining available credit.

In a browser, select your name at the upper right and open Notifications. In the app, open the menu, select your name under Profile and preferences, then Settings → Notifications. Change the threshold or destination email there; it can differ from your sign-in address.
