What it does
Newlyn publishes retail type and creates custom fonts, logos and brand typography. Miles Newlyn’s catalog includes New Spirit, New Kansas, New Atlas and New Science.
New Spirit revisits Windsor’s rounded, expressive serif forms through upright, italic and narrower designs. Its specimen controls change alignment, line height, OpenType options and sample text. The collection links keep related families visible, which helps when a packaging design needs an italic voice or a narrower headline.
Newlyn offers annual and perpetual licences using the size of the business rather than seats, pageviews or app downloads. A family purchase includes its weights; italics count as a separate family, with a combined-purchase discount. Perpetual rights continue when the business grows, while annual licensing uses the current business size for the next year. An online account is established during licensing.
The standard licence covers broad media use and the named primary website domain. Team uploads to Figma or Canva are permitted, but distributing files to an outside design agency needs an arrangement. Extra domains, hardware embedding and public design tools also need attention. OTF, TTF and WOFF2 files are supplied; font-file changes must be handled by the foundry.
