What it does
The US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute maintains a searchable health-topic library. It covers heart, lung, blood and sleep subjects, with related educational handouts and information about clinical research.
Use the search box for a term you have already been given, or the alphabetical filter when you know only the condition's name. The topic cards provide a short explanation before opening the full material. The library includes tests and treatments as subjects of explanation, not just condition names.
Fact sheets and handouts provide a second format for learning or sharing information. Research participation has a separate route, so readers can distinguish general education from study information. The scope is intentionally narrower than an all-purpose health encyclopedia, which makes it a useful institutional starting point for these four subject areas.
Strengths
- Search and letter filters support direct lookup of a known term.
- Handouts provide an alternative to full web topic pages.
Best for
- Readers looking for institutional heart, lung, blood or sleep information.
