What it does
MRIcroGL displays image slices and volume renderings with overlays, regions of interest and scripted visualization options.
MRIcroGL can display a base volume with related overlays, then use slices or rendering to prepare a figure. Its Python documentation includes saving the screen display to a PNG, so keep that rendered figure distinct from the original volume and any region data. Check the build as well as the operating system: the repository describes OpenGL 2.1 as the default, an OpenGL 3.3 option and a macOS Metal build. Some builds omit Python scripting. The older NITRC wiki describes version 1.0, while the repository’s 1.2 documentation notes substantial scripting changes, so use commands for the version you actually have.
Strengths
- Image overlays and regions of interest
- Mosaic views and scripting
Watch out for
- Graphics backend and scripting availability depend on the selected build.
Best for
- Preparing research views of volumetric imaging data
