What it does
Nova Wallet is a free mobile wallet for Polkadot ecosystem accounts, transfers, governance and staking. It also supports watch-only views, and its published iOS source code uses the Apache 2.0 license.
A Nova watch-only wallet shows an address without granting the right to spend from it. This is useful for checking another account or monitoring an account whose signing keys are kept elsewhere.
Tap the account icon at the top right, open settings and choose Add wallet, then Import Existing and Watch only. Give the entry a name and supply the Substrate address, an Ethereum-compatible address, or both. Continue adds the viewing account. No recovery phrase is needed for that view. A stranger offering to unlock its displayed balance for a fee cannot create spending authority from a public address.
To create a wallet that can sign transactions, choose Create new wallet, enter a nickname and select Continue with manual backup. Read the warning, reveal the phrase and record its words before completing the confirmation. Google or Apple cloud backup is an alternative with its own backup password.
Nova is available on iOS and Android. Ledger Nano X, Flex and Stax connections use Bluetooth; Nano S and S Plus USB connections are supported on Android. Confirm both the device and network combination before expecting an existing hardware account to appear.
The wallet is free software, but transfers need the relevant network's native token for charges. Buying through Banxa, Mercuryo or Transak introduces the selected provider's eligibility rules and costs. Governance and staking operate on each network's rules; rewards and token values can change. Nova's unified display also does not make a cross-network transfer equivalent to an ordinary same-network payment.
