Nuanced Canvas is a document editor for working out what to build before code exists. An agent reads your document alongside your repository, questions assumptions in the margin and surfaces decisions still open. Once you choose, it builds in a separate Git worktree on its own branch and returns the changes for review.

Our take

Worth a look if you already write specs and want the agent to argue with them. The margin questioning is the part that matters, since it forces decisions before code. It's Mac-only on Apple silicon and leans on Codex, so check your setup first.

Best for

  • Engineers writing specs before implementation
  • Teams using agentic coding tools
  • Developers who review pull requests closely
  • Mac users with Apple silicon
