What it does
OH no Type Company sells retail font families and custom type work, with free demos requested by email. Families vary in structure: Polymath has optical sizes, while Obviously combines weights and widths. Demo files omit kerning, extended characters and OpenType features.
The Demo Fonts page lets you select families and request them by email. Each demo contains basic English letters, numbers, a full stop and comma. It has no kerning, which adjusts spacing between pairs of letters, or features such as small caps and ligatures.
Demos can be used for experiments, client presentations and student assignments. Personal work posted on social media must credit the typeface, tag the foundry and include a compliment, as required by OH no’s terms. Professional projects need a standard licence.
Paid desktop licences cover the licensed users; web embedding and apps have separate licences. For custom work, the FAQ asks for the required characters, languages, styles and places the font will appear. That brief can range from changing a retail family to commissioning new type.
