What it does
Okular is KDE's document viewer for PDF, EPUB, DjVu, Markdown, comics, and images. PDF tools include notes, highlighting, text selection, thumbnails, and magnification.
Press F6 to open annotation tools, then mark text or add notes while navigating a report through thumbnails or its contents panel. Save writes PDF annotations over the current file; Save As keeps a separate copy. An .okular archive instead packages the document with its annotation metadata for Okular. Text highlights need actual text, and DRM can restrict changes. Custom stamps have a documented visibility limitation in other PDF readers. Stable Linux and Windows routes are offered; Mac builds on the download page are untested nightlies.
Strengths
- Combines PDF review tools with broad document viewing.
Watch out for
- Custom stamps may not be visible in PDF readers other than Okular.
Best for
