What it does

OmniGraffle is a diagramming and rapid-prototyping application for Mac, iPad and iPhone. It provides grouping, snapping, alignment and reusable stencils for organizing visual explanations.

On Mac, open Window > Stencils, find a shape and drag it onto the canvas. Grouping, snapping and alignment help keep a complex arrangement orderly.

You can build a reusable library from your own drawings. Choose File > New Resource > New Stencil, draw the objects and save the file in the Stencils folder. Group the parts of a single interface element before saving; otherwise, each separate object becomes its own stencil. To change an existing set while keeping the original, control-click its name in the Stencil Browser and choose Edit a Copy.

An Omni Account starts the 14-day trial. Perpetual Mac licences cost US$149.99 for Standard or US$249.99 for Pro; the separate iPhone/iPad licences cost US$59.99 and US$119.99. These purchases cover the current major version and its minor updates. The US$129.99 annual subscription includes Pro on Mac, iPhone and iPad, including new major versions.

The apps require macOS 14 or iOS/iPadOS 16 or later. If the trial expires without a purchase, documents remain on the device and can still be opened in the free viewer mode; editing requires a licence or subscription.

Strengths
