What it does
On The Go Map creates routes for walking, running, cycling and driving. It calculates distance and elevation as points are added, supports manual segments and sharing, and offers account-based saving with optional Premium features.
Tap points to sketch a route, then drag a segment to change it while watching the distance update. Manual mode is useful where you need a straight segment instead of a road-snapped path. The routing mode matters: bike mode is designed for paved-road riding, and the official guide recommends foot mode for mountain-bike or cyclocross planning.
A shared unsaved route is a fixed snapshot, while a public saved route updates when its owner edits it. GPX export is available, but exported files cannot be imported back for editing in this tool. Premium adds satellite view, unlimited saved routes and ad removal through monthly or annual billing. Keyboard controls provide an alternative to pointer-based route drawing.
Strengths
- Distance and elevation update during route editing.
- Manual segments and keyboard controls expand the drawing options.
Watch out for
- An exported GPX file cannot be reopened for editing in this tool.
Best for
- Runners and walkers sketching and comparing a planned route in a browser.
