What it does
OpenDCP is a cross-platform application for creating Digital Cinema Packages. It offers a graphical interface and a command-line route for scripted work.
OpenDCP’s GUI and CLI work with prepared cinema assets: opendcp_j2k converts TIFF to JPEG2000, opendcp_mxf wraps sequences, MPEG2 or PCM WAV into MXF, and opendcp_xml generates package XML. Features include DPX/BMP input, XYZ colour conversion, 2K/4K, SMPTE subtitles and 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps. The GPLv3 project lists Linux, Windows and OSX interfaces and recommends a 64-bit processor. This asset pipeline needs to fit the workstation and cinema delivery workflow.
Strengths
- Offers both graphical and scriptable DCP creation.
