What it does
OpenReplay provides session replay, funnels, heatmaps, journey analysis and technical context. It offers self-hosted and cloud routes and also includes co-browsing for user support.
Choose a deployment first: run the community edition on your own infrastructure or use a managed cloud instance. Set up the tracker for your framework and supply the project key from Preferences > Projects. Both routes use an OpenReplay account; a self-hosted installation creates its first user locally.
For a checkout investigation, open Cards > Product Analytics > Funnels. Define steps from visited URLs, clicks or custom events, set the time range and compare total sessions with unique users. Click a grey drop-off section to watch the associated replays. Funnel charts can also be saved as images.
The community software is free to self-host, with infrastructure operated at your expense. Its core uses AGPLv3, some directories use MIT, and enterprise code has separate terms. Managed Dedicated hosting has a seven-day trial without a card. Dedicated instances are billed hourly, and a stopped instance still incurs storage charges; bring-your-own-cloud hosting uses a flat monthly rate instead.
Strengths
- Funnel views can compare current results with an earlier period.
- Co-browsing adds live assistance alongside recorded-session analysis.
Watch out for
- A self-hosted installation requires the adopting team to operate its own environment.
- Stopping a managed Dedicated instance does not eliminate its storage charges.
Best for
- Teams investigating behavior with control over their deployment approach
