What it does
Django Oscar supplies catalog, order and fulfillment components for developers building their own stores.
Oscar lets a developer define the stages an order may pass through and record shipping quantities for individual lines. A made-to-order business could add an approval stage and represent a partial dispatch without treating the whole order as shipped. Payment events are separate; their documented subtotal calculation excludes shipping unless extended.
After installing the framework, create a product class and a fulfillment partner in Oscar's dashboard. These are prerequisites rather than automatically supplied shop data. Use a Django superuser's email and password at /dashboard/. The standard Django admin is not the supported way to edit Oscar store data.
Define the order-status pipeline and initial states in settings.py. The allowed states then appear in the dashboard's order management. The team still implements its business rules and connects external services.
Oscar uses a BSD three-clause licence permitting modification and redistribution subject to its conditions. Budget for development and operation of your own Django application.
