What it does
OVID brings together independent documentaries, arthouse films and global cinema. Its site separates documentary browsing, genres and series within a paid streaming library.
The documentary section is a useful starting point when a subject matters more than a familiar actor. OVID describes a selection that includes formally adventurous work and underrepresented communities, so read each synopsis rather than expecting a conventional entertainment catalogue. Its device list includes web, mobile and television viewing routes.
Watch out for
- Viewing is limited to the US and Canada, with different title rights between them.
- The consumer service is for home and personal use, not public or classroom screenings.
