What it does

OXID eShop is commerce software for consumer stores and business purchasing portals. Merchants can configure stock thresholds and product-specific availability messages alongside their catalog and checkout.

The availability symbol deserves attention before a store goes live. OXID reduces stock as orders arrive and changes the displayed status. Turning stock management off leaves a green availability symbol, which changes what shoppers are told.

For a spare-parts shop, enable stock management, choose the low-stock threshold and set availability messages for different supply arrangements. Product messages override defaults. Negative quantities have a separate setting for stock sourced externally.

An administrator account is created during installation. Under Administer Users > Users, select an existing account or choose Create new User. Enterprise administrators can have access to all shops or a specific shop. Deactivate an account to suspend access; the original installation administrator cannot be deleted from the user list.

OXID offers subscription and purchase-licence routes with a choice of hosting provider. Subscription commitments vary by edition, and additional subshops can add licence charges. Payment-provider fees are separate.

Strengths

  • Availability thresholds and messages can reflect different products' supply arrangements
  • Hosting can be selected separately from the software license

Watch out for

  • Disabling stock management leaves the green availability symbol displayed
  • Subscription licenses carry edition-specific minimum terms

Best for

  • Merchants implementing a configurable store with explicit stock and availability policies
