What it does
Paged.js adds paged-media layout to HTML publishing. Its CLI renders documents using Paged.js and Puppeteer, with stylesheet injection, page geometry, outlines, and rendering controls.
Apply the print stylesheet, use debug mode to inspect the browser layout, then run the CLI with a named PDF output. Paper size, orientation, print/screen media and heading tags for outlines are explicit controls. Rendering uses Node, Paged.js and Puppeteer, or a configured remote browser endpoint. If documents reference external content, configure filesystem/network blocks or path/domain allowlists to fit the source. The MIT-licensed CLI is a local build tool; browser dependencies and the selected runtime still need to be supplied.
Strengths
- Connects paged HTML layout, browser inspection, and repeatable PDF builds.
Watch out for
- Rendering depends on a compatible Node/browser environment; filesystem and remote-access restrictions require explicit configuration.
Best for
- Technical publishers building PDFs from HTML and print stylesheets
