What it does
Paragraphic combines ordinary vector drawing with a sequence of editable operations on each layer. Repetition, modifiers, random variation and connected parameters can turn one motif into a family of designs. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, with SVG exchange and a paid licence that removes trial export restrictions.
Keep the drawing and its construction together
A layer can begin with a rectangle, repeat it in a grid and rotate alternate copies. The selection panel shows these steps as a stack. Editing the original shape updates the result without rebuilding the copies. Layers can still be moved, scaled and grouped like those in a conventional drawing editor.
Document Parameters provide shared controls that connect to properties in different layers. Groups can also have their own operations, allowing a collection of manually arranged parts to become a repeated motif.
SVG import, export and clipboard exchange connect the result with another vector application. Trial exports add a watermark and may remove elements from vector files. A personal licence removes those limits and includes future updates within version 1.
Strengths
- Procedural operations stay attached to editable layers
- Groups can repeat a motif built from several parts
- Shared parameters coordinate properties across a document
Watch out for
- Trial exports carry a watermark
- Trial vector output may omit design elements
Best for
- Vector illustrations with many related variations
- Designers combining hand-drawn forms and procedural repetition
