What it does

Parse.ly provides content analytics, real-time reports and conversion-oriented analysis. Its documentation covers article metadata, authors, sections, campaigns and engaged-time measures, with API and raw-data options for other reporting workflows.

Parse.ly organizes analytics around articles, authors, sections and content outcomes. Before comparing authors or sections, check the metadata supplied with each article: a split or duplicated author name can undermine the comparison even when the traffic collection works.

Produce an editorial report

Open Reports > Create Report, choose a report type and subject, then select a one-time or recurring report and its file format. After Continue, set the parameters and filters. For a recurring report, add the recipients, review the schedule and enter an optional summary before clicking Save.

Package Included scope
Content Performance One tracked site and 13 months of history
Content Value Two sites, plus conversions, attribution and audience segmentation
Content Advocacy Three sites, plus geographic segmentation, video tracking and single sign-on

Pricing is arranged with Parse.ly. Dashboard access requires a registered user account and the appropriate site permissions; an administrator grants access. The platform also offers a content API and raw-data pipeline for connected analysis. When choosing guides to update, distinguish pageviews from engaged time rather than assuming the most visited article held readers' attention longest.

Strengths

  • Organizes reporting around content and editorial questions.
  • API and raw event-pipeline offerings support connected analysis.

Watch out for

  • Published packages specify tracked-site counts and different conversion capabilities.

Best for

  • Publishers and content teams comparing articles, authors and sections
