What it does

Amazon Pay lets shoppers use payment and address information from their Amazon account on participating merchants' websites. Stores can add it through supported ecommerce platforms or a developer integration. Merchant signup is limited to supported countries and is separate from selling products on Amazon's marketplace.

Amazon Pay is an additional checkout option for an existing store. A shopper chooses the Amazon Pay button and uses an Amazon account; the store remains responsible for its own products and order fulfilment. Amazon gift-card balances cannot be used for this checkout.

For WooCommerce, Amazon's setup route uses its extension: download it from the Woo account, upload it through WordPress Admin, Plugins, Add New, and activate it. Then choose Connect to Amazon Pay, sign in and select Transfer access keys. Other platforms have their own setup routes. In particular, Amazon Pay through Shopify Payments follows Shopify Payments pricing.

Merchant countries and account requirements

The US service requires a business authorized to operate with a physical US presence, a US address and phone, US bank and card details, and a taxpayer identifier. European merchant registration is available in a specified list of countries that includes Austria, Germany, Italy and the UK.

Slovenia is not on the European merchant-establishment list, although a Slovenian bank account is among the permitted destinations for eligible euro-area registrations. A supported receiving bank location therefore does not itself establish merchant signup eligibility.

US fees and payouts

Standard US web and mobile pricing is 2.9% + US$0.30 for domestic payments and 3.9% + US$0.30 for payments using a method issued outside the US, plus applicable tax. The US$0.30 authorization fee can also be collected when a successful uncaptured authorization closes or expires. Processing percentages are returned on refunds, but authorization and disputed-chargeback fees are not.

Amazon processes standard disbursements daily and says bank arrival generally takes one to two business days. A reserve can hold back part of the balance. European registration also requires business verification documents, with the exact checklist determined by entity type and location.
