What it does

Payplug combines online and in-store payment acceptance with Cockpit for operations and Track for financial reporting. It serves registered businesses in supported European countries, including France, Slovenia and Switzerland. The service has a monthly subscription plus transaction charges.

To send a remote payment request, open Payments and choose Request a Payment. Enter the amount, customer’s email address or mobile number, description and payment-page language, then send the request. A customer who opens it reaches the payment page for that bill.

Published plans

The listed prices exclude VAT. These card rates apply to Eurozone consumer cards; business and international cards have separate charges.

Plan Monthly subscription Online card rate In-store card rate
Starter EUR 10 1.5% + EUR 0.25 1.5% + EUR 0.10
Pro EUR 30; current offer waives the first three subscription months 1.1% + EUR 0.25 1.1% + EUR 0.10
Enterprise Quoted for the business Negotiated Negotiated

Payplug positions Starter for annual turnover up to EUR 100,000, Pro for EUR 100,000 to EUR 1 million, and Enterprise above that. These are indicative plan guides.

Merchant registration is available in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Switzerland. A business registration number is required.

After collection, use Transfers, then Transfer my balance, to choose how much of the available balance to send to the registered bank account. Payplug estimates 24 to 48 business hours to process a request, followed by bank handling. It warns the overall wait can reach seven or eight business days, and a new merchant’s first transfer can take up to ten.

Strengths

  • Track matches payments to order IDs and can send payment data to business-management software through Chift.
  • Financial reports separate payment activity, chargebacks and transaction-fee details.

Watch out for

  • Payments are credited in euros even when buyers come from other countries.
  • Each payment request can be paid only once.
  • Payplug may retain part of the balance as a reserve, so the amount available for transfer can be lower than total sales.

Best for

  • European retailers reconciling ecommerce and shop receipts
  • Registered small businesses collecting occasional remote customer bills
