What it does
pdfimpose provides a CLI and library for arranging PDF pages on printer sheets. Its imposition schemes include hardcover, saddle stitch, wire binding, cards, and one-page zines.
Choose the scheme from the way the finished sheets will be cut, folded and bound, then run it on the source PDF and choose an output file. The default filename appends -impose to the first input. Set paper size explicitly when needed because the fallback is A4. Saddle mode offers margins, grouping and creep controls, but size, signature and folds are alternatives rather than combined settings. Only crop marks are supported. After imposition, follow the scheme's duplex, folding and binding instructions; the software does not perform that physical assembly.
Strengths
- Supports several binding schemes and flexible input and output paper sizes.
Watch out for
- An unspecified output paper size can fall back to A4.
Best for
- Preparing booklet and small-publication print files
