What it does
pdfposter enlarges PDF pages and divides them across several output pages. The printed sheets can be assembled into a poster, with PDF used for both input and output.
Choose the printer's sheet size and either the finished poster size or a scale factor, then give the command input and output PDF filenames. Page ranges and page-box selection control the source area; dry-run shows the planned operation without writing the PDF. Use the intended sheet arrangement when exact tiling matters: the FAQ's two-A5 example avoids the extra page that rounded A4 dimensions can produce. Inspect the tiles before printing and assembly. This GPLv3-or-later console tool needs Python and pypdf.
Strengths
- Produces printable poster tiles directly from a PDF source.
Watch out for
- Rounded paper sizes can produce an unexpected extra tile; poster size and scale factor are alternative settings.
Best for
- Printing a large PDF poster with a smaller-format printer
