What it does
PDF Pro creates, converts, edits, annotates, and signs PDFs. It includes IRIS-based OCR for making scanned documents searchable and exportable.
For a scan, open OCR → Current file and choose the page range, language and recognition mode. Searchable text allows selection and search but cannot be edited; Editable text supports both, while larger rewrites can be exported to Word. Scanning alone does not include recognition: the guide assigns OCR to the PDF Pro + OCR subscription. A 15-day trial needs no card but watermarks created or edited documents. Paid desktop access uses an account; user subscriptions allow two devices per user.
Strengths
- Combines direct content editing with scan recognition and attachment tools.
Watch out for
- OCR requires its own edition entitlement, and the trial watermarks created or edited documents.
Best for
- Revising digital PDFs and recognizing scanned paperwork
