What it does
PerBang.dk combines an RGB colour inspector with harmony, gradient and reference tools. A selected colour has numerical representations, nearby named or manufactured-colour matches and a permalink for returning to that shade.
Enter a hex value or use the HSL, HSV and sRGB controls to change the colour. The details include RGB, CMYK, Lab and XYZ values, followed by complementary, analogous and other harmony choices. RAL, Munsell, NCS and coated or uncoated references appear as approximate matches.
The gradient page adds a step count and three interpolation routes: RGB, clockwise HSV and counterclockwise HSV. Its CSS editor offers linear, radial and conic shapes, direction controls, colour ordering and flip, mirror or stepped effects. Palette download options are labelled GPL, PNG, ASE, text, JSON and XML.
The site also publishes Bang-v3 colour names as CSV and JSON. That dataset covers 48 hue groups plus neutral colours, and its author explicitly permits use in applications. This permission applies to those naming data; it does not turn the other manufacturers’ colour references into an unrestricted dataset.
For a production colour specification, the conversion results remain approximate. PerBang warns that mathematical conversions can be inaccurate or unsuitable for practical use, and that the same colour can appear differently across displays and output devices.
Strengths
- A colour permalink keeps its numerical values and reference comparisons together.
- The gradient editor combines interpolation choices, CSS controls and several palette formats.
Watch out for
- Manufactured-colour matches are mathematical approximations.
- The site does not guarantee that converted values are suitable for production use.
Best for
- Designers exploring screen colours, harmonies and gradient handoffs.
