What it does
Pi-hole is an open-source DNS sinkhole operated on a local server to block selected unwanted domains across devices without client extensions.
Pi-hole is useful for a network containing devices that cannot install browser filters. Its README describes a DNS sinkhole with a web dashboard and an optional DHCP role. Plan how devices receive DNS settings and who maintains the server before selecting blocklists. Keep a recovery route for name resolution if the server is unavailable. The installation instructions include downloading the script for inspection before running it.
