What it does

Pimcore combines product information, digital assets, master data and experience-management capabilities. Its product models can represent attributes and relationships, with onboarding and distribution tools used to connect supplier, internal and commerce-channel data.

Model the relationships that make the catalogue useful before treating Pimcore as a replacement spreadsheet. Components, parent products, images and technical documents can remain distinct records connected through the data model. Data Hub supplies connections to other systems.

Create a product record

In the current Studio interface, open Data Management > Data Model Definitions > Classes > New and create a Product class. Add a panel to its layout, then fields for SKU, name, description and picture; save the definition.

In Objects, right-click the intended location and choose New Object > Product. Enter the product details, upload a picture or drag one from Assets, then choose Save & Publish. This publishes the data object. A separate page or integration is still needed to display it to shoppers.

Edition Licence and scope
Community Free for eligible uses; core product and asset data tools
Professional Commercial subscription with the core and TinyMCE editor
Enterprise Subscription including advanced modules and the E-commerce Framework
Enterprise PaaS Enterprise capabilities with managed hosting and operations

Current Community eligibility covers non-production use, academic institutions, nonprofits and commercial organisations below EUR/USD 5 million annual revenue. The 2026.x core uses the Pimcore Open Core License, whose terms distinguish it from open-source licensing.

Every instance needs product registration and a valid key before installation. Studio also requires a local administrator account. Development packages contain placeholder credentials that must be replaced before shared or production use.

Strengths

  • Configurable product relationships can connect structured data with media assets
  • Data onboarding and distribution capabilities serve different catalogue endpoints

Watch out for

  • Free Community use has organisation and usage eligibility conditions
  • The E-commerce Framework requires Enterprise; every instance also needs product registration

Best for

  • Technical commerce teams building a tailored product and asset data model
