What it does
Pixelarticons provides pixel-style SVG vector icons, React components and a webfont for retro interfaces. The free set uses the MIT licence and installs without an account. A one-time Pro purchase adds more artwork and styles, plus design-tool files.
Start with the free package
Run npm install pixelarticons, then import a named component such as Heart from pixelarticons/react, or use a file from the svg folder. The font route includes ready-made stylesheets. Icons use a 24-by-24 grid; the project recommends 24, 48, 72 or 96 pixels to keep the stepped edges aligned.
What Pro changes
Base, Sharp, Glyph and Solid make up the main collection. The pricing page lists these one-time Base prices in EUR:
| Licence | Seats | Base price |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | 1 | €99 |
| Team | Up to 5 | €249 |
| Enterprise | Up to 25 | €499 |
Mini and Prime are separate sets, also sold in a Complete bundle. Regional discounts may apply at checkout. The free subset remains MIT-licensed. A purchased Base Pro key upgrades the installed package with additional SVG files and regenerated React components. A clean package installation restores the free set, so automated builds need the documented upgrade step again.
The upgrade does not rebuild the webfont. Use React or individual SVG files for Pro artwork; a font-only implementation cannot gain those extra icons by upgrading.
Strengths
- The public package includes React components, individual SVGs and a prebuilt webfont.
- Pro artwork can be added without changing the React import path.
Watch out for
- Pro icons are unavailable in the supplied webfont.
- A clean package installation removes the locally applied Pro upgrade.
Best for
- Developers building pixel-style dashboards or game interfaces
- Designers needing related pixel icon styles
