Pixeluvo

Pixeluvo keeps corrections revisable through masks and adjustment layers, but saving to an ordinary image format flattens the result. Save a .pxu project if you want the layers intact when reopening it. The current Windows download is a 30-day trial whose saved files are limited to 800×600 pixels; entering a full licence removes that limit. The publisher explicitly says it cannot offer a Linux version at present, despite older Linux wording on the homepage. A purchase covers updates within the same major version, so distinguish those updates from a future major upgrade.
