What it does
PlainScribe transcribes audio and video files with speaker labels and timestamps, detects language automatically, and translates across 47 languages. It adds AI summaries and subtitles, and exports as TXT, CSV, SRT, VTT, or JSON. Files up to 1GB are accepted in formats such as MP3, MP4, WAV, M4A, and MOV. Pricing is $4 per audio hour, or $0.067 per minute, with prepaid credits from $10. The first transcript is free up to 2 hours and no card is needed. Transcripts and raw audio auto-delete after 30 days, and an included desktop app can transcribe offline on your own machine.
The site states there is no subscription or per-seat fee, and that paid credits stay in the balance for a year from purchase. A $10 top-up covers 150 minutes. Speaker renaming and find-and-replace correction rules are available instead of a full text editor. The comparison page notes PlainScribe has no API access and no custom vocabulary training. Turnaround is listed at about 15 to 20 minutes per hour of audio.
