What it does
Pleiades is a community-built scholarly gazetteer and graph of ancient places, with place-name and identifier search and reviewed contributions.
Ancient place names can be ambiguous or change across sources. Use a Pleiades record to establish a stable reference before comparing linked locations and related material. Name, identifier and URL searches support returning to the same place record during a longer historical research task.
Pleiades states a Creative Commons Attribution licence for its content. Preserve contributor credit and the place identifier; its software packages have their own licences.
