What it does

Pocket Universe is a browser extension that displays the asset movements expected from a supported Web3 transaction and adds risk warnings. It works alongside a compatible wallet; signatures still take place in that wallet.

See what a request would move

Install the Chrome or Firefox extension, then use a compatible browser wallet. Pocket Universe says installation does not require connecting a wallet or signing a transaction. Its popup previews assets involved in a request before you return to your wallet to approve it.

The FAQ lists wallets including MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet and Rabby, and networks including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Base. WalletConnect is not supported. Check the extension's current network list before relying on a preview for another chain.

Understand the optional coverage

The company's terms distinguish a free version from fee-funded protection. Fees can apply to selected DeFi transactions and are displayed before signing. Coverage requires an eligible transaction marked COVERED, with the feature enabled and no disqualifying warning.

The coverage page excludes losses from compromised private keys, protocol hacks, rug pulls, ignored warnings and unsupported networks, among other cases. Claims must be submitted within 21 days and are reviewed by the company. The company lists excluded countries including Cuba, Iran and Russia, as well as the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions; its full exclusion list is longer. Skipping a site through the dashboard turns off its checks and coverage, so that setting changes more than whether a popup appears.

Strengths

  • Asset-movement previews sit before the wallet's signing step.
  • The published compatibility list identifies supported wallets and networks.
  • Coverage terms distinguish eligible signatures from several other types of crypto loss.

Watch out for

  • WalletConnect is not supported.
  • Optional coverage has fees, eligibility conditions and geographic exclusions.

Best for

  • Browser wallet users reviewing a supported transaction before signing
