What it does

Calman is Portrait Displays’ Windows software family for measured display calibration and validation, sold with perpetual licences and separate update maintenance. Studio and Ultimate support professional workflows, while Home editions target selected television brands and models.

From measurements to a display LUT

Studio can create a 3D LUT for a compatible display chain, including a documented DaVinci Resolve workflow. Connect a supported meter and pattern source, measure the display, choose the target and generate the appropriate .cube file. The Resolve guide then loads that file as a video-monitor calibration LUT, rather than applying it to the media. It also explains how to validate the result.

Hardware support and file format matter: direct AutoCal depends on the display model, and another device's .cube format may need conversion. Studio also includes Client3 licences for related monitor-profile work and calibration reports.

The software licence is perpetual. Initial purchases include a year of updates and support; continued All Access maintenance is a separate cost.

Strengths

  • Professional workflows connect measurement, calibration and validation.
  • Display LUTs and reports provide concrete calibration outputs.

Watch out for

  • Meter, pattern source, display and edition must support the intended workflow.
  • Updates and support after the included year require continued maintenance.

Best for

  • Studios building a measured video-monitor calibration workflow
