What it does
POSEMANIACS provides figure, muscle, hand and face references, pose categories and drawing-learning material. Its pose library supports study in the browser and a documented handoff to Clip Studio Paint. The core reference and learning material is free.
The pose list can be filtered by tags such as running, twisting or sitting. Open a reference and use the controls at the model's feet to adjust its angle and direction. Separate hand and muscle collections narrow a study to the part that needs attention.
For Clip Studio Paint 3.0 or later, open a canvas and choose File > Import > 3D pose (Posemaniacs). The browser opens the pose list. Pick a pose, adjust its view and use Open Clip Studio Paint. If the canvas has no figure, choose a drawing figure in the dialog; otherwise the pose applies to the selected figure. Place a custom 3D character on the canvas before starting this route. Tablets and phones require Studio Mode.
The transfer carries the pose, not POSEMANIACS muscle textures, props or lighting. Different limb lengths and bone structures can change the result, so joint positions and perspective may need adjustment in the drawing application.
The reference service describes its learning material as free. Its FAQ permits publishing and selling artwork drawn from the references, within the stated conditions. Unaltered captures sold as merchandise, competing reference collections and recordings of only the timed-reference screen are excluded. The documented pose handoff does not grant general permission to download the underlying 3D models.
Strengths
- Tag filtering and separate hand or muscle references support focused figure studies.
- The pose handoff can apply a reference to an existing drawing figure with different proportions.
Watch out for
- Pose transfer omits muscle textures, accessories and lighting.
- The reference licence does not allow raw captures to become merchandise or a competing collection.
Best for
- Figure studies organised around an action or body region
- Illustrators applying a reference pose to a Clip Studio drawing figure
