What it does
Posteo is a subscriber-funded mail service with calendars, contacts and notes. It documents optional encrypted storage, inbound PGP or S/MIME encryption and IMAP/POP access.
Posteo is useful when an existing mail client matters as much as webmail. Its feature list includes IMAP and POP3, calendar synchronization through CalDAV and contact synchronization through CardDAV. Migration tools can move email, contacts and appointments from another provider.
The provider separates several encryption options: encrypted mailbox storage, inbound encryption using PGP or S/MIME, and transport protections. Choose the feature that matches the data you need to protect rather than assuming those labels mean the same thing. Posteo also says registration does not require personal details and payment information is not linked to an account. Those are provider policies, not a guarantee of anonymity.
