What it does
ProIcons is a free MIT-licensed icon family with JavaScript, React, Vue, Svelte and webfont packages. Its JavaScript library can return SVG vector strings, find icons by name or replace marked elements on a page. There is no premium subset or product-account requirement for the public package.
Install proicons, then import a named symbol such as AddIcon. The returned object exposes raw SVG and a toSvg method that accepts options such as size and color. PascalCase names avoid reserved-word conflicts with names such as delete.
For a fixed toolbar, individual imports allow a bundler to remove unused artwork. The runtime search, lookup and replacement methods do not: they need broader catalog data. The icons property loads the complete collection, while iconList provides names alone.
Search matches icon names or tags and returns results alphabetically. The replace method converts elements carrying a proicon attribute into the corresponding artwork. These tools suit an icon picker or an existing HTML page, while direct imports are the documented choice for a small known selection. The project states that the entire family is free under MIT.
Strengths
- Supports direct icon imports and SVG-string output with customization options.
- Documents both runtime search and replacement of marked HTML elements.
Watch out for
- Runtime search and lookup prevent removal of unused catalog data.
- Some camelCase icon names conflict with reserved JavaScript words.
Best for
- Developers building icon pickers or HTML icon replacement
- Teams wanting a fully free icon family across frameworks
