What it does

Producers Library licenses archival footage and photographs, including Hollywood and entertainment history. Search filters distinguish the decade recorded from the period depicted, and clip bins keep related selections together.

For a phrase search, use the Exact Phrase control without quotation marks. Other filters narrow results by decade, depicted period, colour and media type. An account is needed to use the full ClipBin tools.

To license part of a film, pause at the start of the passage and select the first Slice arrow. Move to the end, select the second arrow, then add the selection to the cart. The cart asks for Usage, Media, Territory and Term to calculate the price. Public rates vary by project and use per-second or per-slice charges; minimum licence and laboratory charges can also apply.

Some masters need staff preparation or scanning. Download links appear under Downloads in the user profile and remain valid for 14 days. The licence covers the specified production and uses, requires a Producers Library credit, and leaves any necessary third-party clearances with the customer.

Strengths

  • Slice controls let editors select and preview only the passage they need.
  • Search can separate an image’s recorded decade from the period it depicts.

Watch out for

  • Minimum licence and laboratory charges can add to the footage cost.
  • Some masters require staff preparation or additional scanning.

Best for

  • Documentary teams licensing precise archival sequences
