What it does

Proxed.AI is an open-source proxy that protects AI API keys in mobile apps. You replace your provider URL with a Proxed endpoint and add Apple DeviceCheck attestation, split-key protection, and rate limits. It is aimed at mobile developers who want to secure AI integrations without building backend infrastructure.

Proxed.AI is a proxy for developers who want to keep AI provider keys out of shipped mobile apps. You replace the provider URL with a Proxed endpoint and send a device token from Apple's DeviceCheck, so requests from emulators or scripts can be blocked before they reach your quota. The split-key design keeps the sensitive half of the provider key on the server. The project is open source and can be self-hosted for free, which is the practical path right now because new registrations are paused. Existing customers can still sign in and use the product. The homepage also lists hosted plans with monthly API call limits, but those plans are not open to new customers while registrations are paused.

Strengths

  • Apple DeviceCheck blocks emulators and scripts
  • Open source with a free self-hosting option
Watch out for
  • New registrations are paused
  • Hosted plans are not open to new customers right now
