What it does
HPN-SSH develops high-performance SSH extensions including dynamic window sizing and parallel cryptographic work for high-bandwidth or high-latency links.
Evaluate HPN-SSH when an existing SSH transfer workflow encounters throughput limits on a long-distance route. The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center project documents SSHv2 interoperability and its OpenSSH lineage. Its performance improvements need measurement on the intended route. It is a substantial maintained implementation, not an alternate package name for stock OpenSSH.
Strengths
- SSH-compatible implementation with transfer-focused performance work
Best for
- Testing SSH transfers over high-bandwidth, high-latency routes
