PubChem provides chemical records and tools for investigating structures, submitted substances and biological assays.
Choose Compound for a standardized structure or Substance when a particular contributor's submitted record matters. The official guidance explains that these are different data views. Keeping that distinction helps avoid mixing a chemical identity with one deposited description.
