What it does
Transbank provides card acceptance for businesses in Chile, including payment terminals and Webpay for online sales. Webpay Plus takes customers to a payment form for credit, debit or prepaid cards. Merchants need to join Transbank and have their integration validated before taking live website payments.
For a standard online store, Webpay Plus creates one charge for the basket. Its plugins provide a route for supported ecommerce platforms; a custom website can use a software development kit or the API, the interface that connects your checkout to Transbank.
From application to live checkout
Complete the merchant application and digital signature to receive a merchant code by email. Build the connection in the integration environment, then submit the relevant validation form. Once approved, use the production credentials Transbank supplies and complete its required live verification purchase. The developer account and test environment alone do not activate a merchant for real sales.
A developer creates a transaction with the order identifier, session, amount and return address. Webpay returns a token and payment-page address. After the customer returns, confirm the transaction and check both the response code, which must be 0, and the AUTHORIZED status before treating the order as paid. The status lookup can help resolve an interrupted checkout for seven days after creation.
Ask for the current Webpay commission, minimum transaction charge and bank settlement schedule when arranging the merchant agreement. Terminal arrangements and online checkout should be priced for the products your business will actually use.
Strengths
- Webpay Plus Mall handles payments for several merchant codes and returns a separate result for each store.
- Oneclick Mall lets returning customers use an enrolled card across participating stores without entering it again.
Watch out for
- A newly created Webpay Plus payment token expires after five minutes.
- For subsequent Oneclick charges, Transbank assigns the risk of disputed or unauthorized purchases to the merchant.
Best for
- Chilean retailers adding card checkout to an existing online store
- Software providers collecting for several affiliated merchants
