What it does
QuickBooks Online records business income, expenses and invoices, with reporting and bank connections. In the US, its Free plan supports one user and one connected bank account. Paid plans add accountant access, more users and functions such as inventory and project profitability; other country editions have their own pricing.
Choose around users and transaction needs
The US Free plan includes two invoices a month, one bank connection and basic financial reports. Intuit removes the invoice limit for businesses that qualify for and enable QuickBooks Payments, whose payment terms apply separately. Free does not include accountant access.
| US plan | Standard monthly price in USD | User allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1; no accountant access |
| Simple Start | $38 | 1, plus 2 accountants |
| Essentials | $85 | 3, plus 2 accountants |
| Plus | $140 | 5, plus 2 accountants |
| Advanced | $340 | 25, plus 3 accountants |
Introductory discounts and the paid-plan trial are separate offers. Plus adds inventory and project-profitability tracking. Payroll is an optional purchase.
Prepare the company before importing history
Create an account, then complete Company settings with the details that should appear on invoices. Intuit's setup guide asks you to gather opening balances, recent statements, customer and vendor lists, and unpaid invoices or bills. These make it easier to connect the bank feed to the books you already keep. Select the correct country edition before subscribing.
