What it does

Quicken Classic is personal finance software for Windows and Mac, designed for the US and Canada. Its Deluxe edition combines account registers, year-long budgets, custom categories and tags, recurring bills and reports. Access uses an annually billed subscription and a Quicken ID.

Set up the desktop file

On Windows, choose whether to create a new file or restore an existing one, then sign in with your Quicken ID. Mobile and web synchronization is optional during setup. Name the file and use Add Account to connect a supported institution or select + Offline Account for manual records.

Use Tools > Category List to organize your spending categories, then Planning > Budgets to create the plan. Review upcoming bills alongside recorded transactions so a future payment is not overlooked simply because it has not cleared yet.

Deluxe also includes debt-planning tools and financial reports. The Lifetime Planner, which models long-term savings and retirement scenarios, is available on Windows only. Windows instructions and that planner should not be assumed to match the Mac edition.

Annual payment and renewal

The US Deluxe page displays a US$6.99 monthly equivalent with annual billing. Introductory offers apply to the first year for new memberships, and the subscription renews at the rate in effect then. The payment is collected upfront for the membership term.

There is a 30-day money-back guarantee from purchase or automatic renewal. To stop the next renewal, open your Quicken account, select Subscriptions, then Manage Subscription and Cancel Renewal. A Quicken ID is needed even when you choose to keep the financial file's mobile and web sync switched off.
