What it does
EveryDollar helps users allocate monthly income to giving, saving and spending categories. The free version supports manual entries and sinking funds, while Premium adds automatic bank transactions and further planning tools. Premium and the mobile apps are US-only; international users can create a free budget through the desktop website.
Build the month's category plan before assigning purchases to it. Sinking funds give less frequent expenses their own reserved amount, and split transactions let one purchase affect several categories. Partners can use separate email addresses with the same household budget.
Record a purchase in the right budget item
On the website's Budget page, open Transactions and click the blue plus button. Enter the amount, date and merchant, choose the manually tracked account if relevant, and select the budget item. Add Expense saves it. If you leave the budget item blank, the purchase waits in the transaction queue until you assign it.
Manual entry works on the free and paid versions. Automatic bank imports require Premium. Both approaches still depend on placing purchases in the intended budget items.
Cost and downloads
The free version has no time limit. Premium costs US$17.99 monthly or US$79.99 annually, with a 14-day trial for new users. A Ramsey account is needed, and subscription details are available in account settings.
Premium users can download CSV files on EveryDollar.com. Scroll to the bottom of the budget, select Download CSV, choose the budget or tracked transactions and confirm. Export is month by month, so a full year's records require separate downloads. Unassigned transactions are excluded, and statement-file importing is not supported.
