What it does
RawTherapee is a free RAW photo-processing application released under GPLv3, with downloads for Windows, Mac and Linux.
After developing a RAW image, use Save immediately in the Editor to choose the output name, location, format and whether to keep a PP3 processing profile alongside it. The original RAW remains unchanged. Queue the result instead when you want processing to wait; Force Saving Options uses the save dialog's choices rather than the queue defaults. Existing output names normally gain a numbered suffix, but disabling that option permits overwriting. Immediate full-image processing can make other adjustments less responsive until the save finishes.
Strengths
- Cross-platform RAW development
- GPLv3 software with public source code
Watch out for
- Disabling automatic filename suffixes permits overwriting existing output; immediate saving can slow concurrent adjustments.
Best for
- Developing digital-camera RAW photographs
