What it does

Realbyte’s Money Manager records personal expenses and assets on Android and iOS. Receipt photos, transaction filters, a monthly calendar and category budgets help review the same spending from different angles. Free editions have account limits; paid versions remove ads and expand the account allowance.

The calendar provides a date-based way to review a month’s transactions, while filters narrow that history when a specific purchase is needed. Attach a receipt photo to keep the supporting record with the entry. For planning, set a monthly amount for each category and compare it with the period totals.

On Android, open the Trans. tab, tap plus and choose Expense or Income. Select an account and category, enter the amount and save. Continue keeps the entry screen open when recording several purchases. Store details and notes are optional, and a receipt image can accompany an expense.

A category budget starts under Trans., Total, Budget Setting. Add the category and amount with the plus button. Its default amount applies across months, but an individual month can have a different limit. Changing the default affects future months and preserves amounts already set for particular months. This lets a holiday month differ from the ordinary household plan.

Free and paid editions

The Android free edition allows 15 accounts; the current iOS free listing specifies 10. The paid edition removes ads, adds unlimited accounts and provides PC Manager. The US iOS Remove Ads app is listed at US$5.99 as a separate purchase.

PC Manager displays the records held on the phone. On Android, open More, PC Manager, choose Start and enter the displayed address in a browser on the same local network. Keep that phone screen open during the connection. This is a local companion view, rather than a standalone desktop application.

Android backups can go to the device or Google Drive through More, Backup/Restore. A backup kept only on the phone can be lost with that device. Ordinary recordkeeping does not require membership registration; Realbyte reserves registration for additional services.

Strengths

  • Receipt images can be kept beside individual transactions.
  • Monthly budget exceptions can coexist with a regular default amount.
  • PC Manager offers a larger editing view on the same local network.

Watch out for

  • Free account limits differ between Android and iOS.
  • PC Manager depends on the phone remaining on its access screen and the same local network.

Best for

  • People who want personal expense records with receipt photos
  • Households maintaining category budgets with occasional monthly exceptions
