What it does

AccuRIG turns a static humanoid model into a character that can be posed and animated. Its guided process places body and finger joints, lets you correct them, and previews motion before export. The standalone Windows application is free and requires a Reallusion account for initial use.

From model to working joints

Import an FBX or OBJ character with its texture files in the same folder. Correct its facing direction, then align the centre line with the pelvis. Rig Body places the main joints automatically; drag the joint markers to correct their positions. Rig Right Hand and Rig Left Hand handle the fingers after you enter the finger count.

Use Calibrate to inspect poses and motions. Bone offsets can address clipping, and Rig Body lets you return to joint placement if further adjustment is needed. Save iAvatar sends the character into the Reallusion workflow; Add Motions leads to animation preview and export.

Export to another application

  1. In Add Motions, click Export and choose FBX or USD.
  2. For FBX, select the intended application. Choose character, motion or both as the output.
  3. Set Max Texture Size and decide whether to embed textures in FBX. Separate texture folders are recommended for the Unreal, Unity and Blender Auto Setup workflows.
  4. For motion, set the frame rate and optional Mirror, Move in Place or initial T-pose/bind-pose settings.
  5. Click Export to write the files.

Raising Max Texture Size above the original texture size does not upscale the image. ActorCore motion purchases are separate from the free rigging application.

Strengths

  • Accepts both single and multiple meshes in an A-pose or T-pose.
  • A character can be exported on its own, without bundling a motion.

Watch out for

  • Additional paid ActorCore motions must be purchased before exporting those animations.
  • The application requires a Reallusion login on first use.

Best for

  • Modellers adding a humanoid skeleton to FBX or OBJ characters
  • Artists handing rigged characters to game engines or animation tools
